Choosing a makeup artist for your wedding is an important task, you have to make sure that you are a good fit for each other and that they understand what you are looking for and of course that they are good at their job!
Before you even get to a wedding trial, there are some key Questions to ask your wedding makeup artist.
Key Questions to ask
1. What is your experience?
Some brides are OK with a makeup artist with only a little experience (we all have to start somewhere) but for others booking someone with a lot of industry experience is more important. The level of experience should also reflect in the price that you will pay for makeup services.
2. Do you have a portfolio that I can see?
Always ask to see a portfolio of the makeup artists past work, this will give you a good idea of their style and if they are able to create the look that you are going for.
3. What products do you use?
Make sure that the products they use are ones that you are comfortable with and that they will be able to achieve the desired makeup look with the products that they have.
4. Do you charge extra for travel?
If your wedding is not in the same city/town as where the makeup artist lives, then you need to find out if they charge extra for travel costs.
5. What is included in your wedding makeup package?
Make sure you know exactly what is included in the makeup package that you are booking, so that there are no surprises on your wedding day and you know what price you can expect to pay!

6. Do you only do a certain style of makeup
There are lots of different styles of wedding makeup you can have on the day, so it’s important to know that your makeup artist is able to accommodate your choice.
7. Do you require a deposit?
Most reputable makeup artists will require some sort of deposit to secure your booking, this is usually non-refundable so make sure you are 100% happy with your decision before paying any money.
8. When is the balance due?
Find out when the final balance is due, usually it is on or before the wedding day.
9. Do you have insurance?
This is important in case anything gets damaged on your big day, most reputable makeup artists will have some sort of insurance to cover any accidental damage.
10. Do you have a contract?
Make sure that you get everything in writing, so that both parties are clear on what is expected and there are no misunderstandings on the day of the wedding.
Asking your makeup artist these key questions before booking them will help to ensure that you are choosing the right person for the job and that you are both on the same page. It will also help to avoid any surprises or problems on your wedding day!
